Mostovoy: Dembele is a footballer worthy of the Ballon d'Or

Sports06:59, 23-09-2025

Former footballer Aleksandr Mostovoy shared his thoughts on Usman Dembele's victory in winning the 2025 Ballon d'Or. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to him, the French forward was deemed worthy of this award due to his outstanding season with the PSG team. Mostovoy emphasized that the selection process was not easy and stated that many candidates, in his opinion, did not reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He also considers Lamin Yamal's second place and Vitini's third place to be fair, but said that many players who made it into the top ten also deserved the award. Mostovoy said: "None of the candidates come close to Messi and Ronaldo.

I thought there would be a choice between Dembele and Rafinha, as the Brazilian player had an excellent season. However, he only took fifth place.

Overall, the award was given and deserved. Any player in the top ten deserved it." Usman Dembele became the Ballon d'Or winner this year.
