Former Soviet Union national team and Moscow CSKA defender Vladimir Ponomaryov shared his opinion about the Moscow "Spartak" team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Opta data, this season Spartak is the only team where Russian players have not yet scored any goals. According to Ponomaryov, this is a very shameful situation for Spartak and the team's statistics are unsatisfactory.
He believes that the new restrictions will benefit Spartak and emphasized the need to play more Russian players in the squad. Until the 2028-2029 season, the number of foreign players in Russian championship clubs is planned to be reduced from 13 to 10 in the squad and from 8 to 5 on the field.
However, these restrictions do not apply to citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, including players from Belarus, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. These changes are being implemented to develop national football and create opportunities for local players.
Additionally, club management must take these rules into account when forming their squads.
