Shunyich: Kuban was the traditional team in the city

According to former Kuban defender Toni Shunyich, Kuban was the city's traditional team, while Krasnodar later took that place. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

He emphasized that since 2016, only the Krasnodar club, managed by Sergey Galitskiy, has been participating in the Russian Premier League (RPL). Toni Shunyich stated that when he joined Kuban, Krasnodar was already a strong team, and competition for Kuban was very tough.

Kuban was relegated from the RPL at the end of the 2015/2016 season and has not returned to the league since. Krasnodar, founded in 2008, has won silver and bronze medals in the RPL within 17 years and has also participated in European competitions, including the Champions League.

Currently, the club holds the title of Russian champion. These facts demonstrate Krasnodar's leading position in football in the city.
