Former Zenit footballer Denis Ugarov shared his thoughts on the inclusion of the "sine-belo-goluboy" team's forward Aleksandr Sobolev in the extended squad of the Russian national team for the BetBoom matches against Iran and Bolivia in October. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Ugarov, anyone can be included in the extended list, but Dzyuba was more deserving of a call-up compared to Sobolev. Sobolev's selection is unclear to him.
Ugarov also emphasized that it is difficult for Sobolev to score ten goals in the current Russian championship season. This season, the 28-year-old forward has scored four goals and provided two assists in eleven matches for the club on the Neva shore.
In Ugarov's opinion, Sobolev's results are not sufficiently successful for the team, and his call-up to the national team remains doubtful. Therefore, when forming the national team roster, the current performance of players and their benefit to the team should be the main criteria.
