Georgia national team suffered a heavy defeat against Turkey
The Georgian national team could have returned to the fight to advance from the group stage in the World Cup qualifiers if they had won against the Turkish team as visitors. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
However, events unfolded differently. At the beginning of the match, Kenan Yıldız made a long pass, then faced the goalkeeper one-on-one and calmly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper.
Initially, the referees called offside, but the VAR decision overturned it, and the goal was confirmed. Then the Turks took corner kicks from both wings.
From the left wing, Merih Demiral delivered a powerful header in a duel with an opponent, which the goalkeeper could not save at all. After the corner kick, Abdulkerim Bardakchi just missed the ball that was crossed into the near penalty area.
In the 35th minute, the Turks launched another attack from the left wing and passed to Ismoil Yüksək. He shot towards the goalkeeper; goalkeeper Luka Lochoshvili saved the ball, but Yunus Akgün sent the ball into the net with a final strike.
At the start of the second half, the Turks quickly attacked from the left wing and earned a corner kick. Hakan Çalhanoğlu delivered an accurate cross from the corner, and Demiral headed the ball precisely into the goal inside the box.
Then a vertical pass reached Otar Kiteishvili, who directed the ball with his foot to Georgiy Kochorashvili. Georgiy slowed down, deceived Demiral, and with a powerful shot defeated the goalkeeper.
Giorgi Gocholeishvili joined the attack from the left wing and tried to make a pass, but the ball slightly deflected off his foot, hit the goalpost, and caused confusion in front of the goalkeeper. Currently, Spain leads the group with 12 points after four matches.
