Sergey Semak, head coach of the "Zenit" team, expressed his opinion about the legionnaire limit in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the important aspect in this matter is to clearly understand the goal: is it to increase the number of Russian players or to improve the quality of the Premier League. As Semak emphasized, for the Russian championship to be stronger, it must have more quality players.
The coach is not in favor of completely abolishing the legionnaire limit. He considers the current regulation to be acceptable.
According to Semak, this limit allows teams to be competitive. He also noted that the championship is currently at a good level and that fans are coming to the stadiums in large numbers.
At present, each club in the Russian Premier League has the right to register 13 legionnaires for the season. At the same time, 8 legionnaires can play on the field simultaneously.
This regulation serves to ensure fair competition among teams and helps the development of national football.
