Zaharyan may be excluded from the "Real Sociedad" squad
Intense discussions continue around the "Real Sociedad" football club in San Sebastián. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The club's new head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo held meetings with the players after signing a contract on December 21. According to COPE journalist Marco Antonio Sande, the coach indicated that some players would be excluded from the team's plans.
In particular, it is emphasized that Arsen Zaharyan is on this list. This was reported by *euro-football.ru*.
Zaharyan played in 16 matches during the 2025/26 season but only managed to play 530 minutes and scored one goal. Under Matarazzo's management, he participated in only 4 games.
Two of these were cup matches, where Zaharyan did not manage to make an impact. In La Liga matches, he only appeared towards the end of the games.
At the same time, the club's official position contradicts these reports. Real Sociedad's press service denied the information about Zaharyan leaving the team and stated that the coach has no such intention.
However, unofficial reports suggest that the coach has already made a decision regarding the player. Zaharyan transferred to Real Sociedad from Moscow's Dinamo club in 2023.
He has participated in 60 matches for the team, recording 3 goals and 3 assists. His contract is valid until 2029, and according to the Transfermarkt portal, the player's value is estimated at around 7.5 million euros.
However, Zaharyan's playing time on the field is very limited. This situation could negatively affect the player's career.
If the club does not want to lose the player, the coach is reluctant to use him extensively, and the player is not getting enough match practice. Former Russian national team striker Dmitry Bulykin advised Zaharyan to stay in Europe and find a club that suits him.
Former coach Igor Korneyev openly stated that Zaharyan is not in demand in Europe. Such contradictions are common in modern football.
The future of Zaharyan remains uncertain for now. If he is excluded from the coach's plans, the issue of loaning him out or transferring to another club may come up.
