Marcelo Delgado gained extensive experience during his football career. Between 1995 and 2002, he played in 18 matches for the Argentina national team.
He also took part in the 1998 World Cup. In 2003, he was among the top scorers in the Copa Libertadores and shared the list of top scorers with Santos forward Ricardo Oliveira.
