The list of the 100 greatest football players in history compiled by The Athletic is widely discussed on social media. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was reported by Euro-football.ru. The top ten of this list includes the following players: Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Pele, Johan Cruyff, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alfredo di Stefano, Franz Beckenbauer, Zinedine Zidane, Ferenc Puskás, and Michel Platini.

This ranking has sparked various opinions among football fans. Some expressed objections to Pele, the three-time world champion, being placed third.

It is clear that ensuring complete impartiality when compiling such lists is difficult. On the Reddit platform, passionate debates on this topic have also intensified among football enthusiasts.

At the same time, it is noteworthy that the legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin was ranked 18th. This ranking undoubtedly increased interest in football history and legendary players.
