MakTominay: Football rules are becoming very soft

Sports20:29, 20-02-2026

Scott McTominay, midfielder for the Scotland national team and Italy's Napoli club, shared his thoughts on how football rules and refereeing interpretations have changed in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was reported by *euro-football.ru*. According to McTominay, modern football is becoming much "softer" compared to before.

He emphasized that in his childhood, players were taught a tougher style of play, whereas now even the slightest touch can result in a yellow card. In his opinion, today's football is based on excessive sensitivity.

This season, the 29-year-old footballer has participated in 34 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists. Additionally, he has been penalized with two yellow cards.
