According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the 53-year-old specialist has reached a verbal agreement with the French Football Federation. This was reported by the euro-football.ru website.

According to information, the former head coach of Madrid's "Real" club is expected to lead the French national team after the conclusion of the World Cup. If this happens, Zidane will return to coaching after a five-year break.

The French national team is currently managed by Didier Deschamps. He took the coaching position in the summer of 2012 and has successfully participated in several major tournaments with the team.

In the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, France will play in a group with Senegal and Norway. The third opponent will be determined based on the results of the playoff matches.
