Filimonov: Safonov's skill is not accidental

Sports03:21, 24-02-2026

Former goalkeeper of the Russian national team Aleksandr Filimonov shared his thoughts on Matvey Safonov's performances with PSG. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to euro-football.ru, Filimonov emphasized that Safonov saving four consecutive penalties is not a mere coincidence or a spectacle.

He stated that this should not be confused with a show created by fans, but should be regarded as the goalkeeper's genuine skill. Currently, Safonov is increasingly solidifying his position as the main goalkeeper at the French club PSG.

This season, he has played in three Champions League matches, conceding three goals and managing to keep a clean sheet in one game. Additionally, Safonov has participated in six Ligue 1 matches, conceding six goals.

Moreover, he has kept his goal "dry" in three matches. These results are of significant importance in strengthening his status within the club.
