The head coach of Argentina's River Plate football club, Marcelo Gallardo, has decided to leave the team. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The club announced this in a statement on its official website. This news was also confirmed by the euro-football.ru website.

It is known that Gallardo will leave his position after the national championship match against Banfield on February 26. His resignation was prompted by the team's recent inability to deliver the expected results.

Currently, River Plate is in 10th place in the Argentine championship standings. Marcelo Gallardo has served as head coach of River Plate twice.

From 2014 to 2022, he won 14 trophies with the club. Among these achievements, winning the national championship and the Copa Libertadores twice each is especially noteworthy.

Gallardo is recognized as one of the most successful coaches in River Plate's history. His departure could be a significant loss for the club.

At the same time, the team is expected to begin the process of searching for a new coach.
