Anzor Kavazashvili: 2026 World Cup Under Threat

Sports13:19, 02-03-2026

Former goalkeeper of Moscow's "Spartak" football club Anzor Kavazashvili expressed doubts about the holding of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to him, due to the US military actions against Iran, the tournament might not take place at all. This was reported by euro-football.ru.

According to Kavazashvili, much depends on how the situation develops in the near future. If the US quickly gains the upper hand and resolves the conflict, the championship can be held as planned.

However, if the conflict drags on, the likelihood of canceling the World Cup increases. This was also reported by the "Sovetskiy Sport" publication.

It is worth noting that the 2026 World Cup is planned to be held in the North American countries of the US, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19.

The current world champion is the Argentina national team.
