Trump strongly opposed Iran's participation in the World Championship

US President Donald Trump expressed a cold and sharp stance regarding the participation of the Iranian national team in the 2026 World Cup. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, this issue does not interest him. Trump described Iran as a weakened state and emphasized that its power is declining.
"I am not interested in this at all. I think Iran is a defeated and crushed country.
Their strength is coming to an end," said the US president. Trump's statement is not just a comment on sports but is perceived as a sharp signal amid the political environment between the US and Iran.
In recent days, following increased tensions between the two countries, various speculations and concerns have intensified regarding Iran's participation in the World Cup. At the same time, Iran has expressed a completely different position.
Iran's ambassador to Spain, Reza Zabib, emphasized that the national team’s participation in the World Cup is a right legally and based on sports principles earned by the team itself. Iran's official stance appears to be in favor of participating in the competition rather than withdrawing.
The 2026 World Cup will be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The issue of Iran's participation is no longer just a sports topic — it has become closely linked with geopolitical tensions, security, and international relations.
Currently, there are two perspectives: on one side, Trump's sharp statement, and on the other, Iran's firm indication. The final word on this matter has not yet been given.
However, debates around the Iranian team will heat up further before the 2026 World Cup. Source: One.uz.
