Iran clashes forced Uzbek footballers to return

The ongoing military clashes in Iran are negatively affecting not only the country's political and security environment but also its football. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to open sources, the Iranian national championship has been suspended, and many foreign footballers have been forced to leave the country due to security concerns. Mehdi Toj, head of the Iranian Football Federation, confirmed the suspension of the domestic league.
This situation directly impacts foreign players who are important for Central Asian football, especially Uzbekistan. Open sources report that almost all professional Uzbek footballers have left Iran.
Among them are key national team players such as Oston Orunov, Igor Sergeev, Rustam Ashurmatov, Jaloliddin Masharipov, and Odil Hamrobekov. For example, according to information, Sergeev, Orunov, and Hamrobekov have returned to Uzbekistan, Ashurmatov has headed to the UAE, and Masharipov remains in Italy undergoing recovery.
These details have been presented in local sports publications and analytical sources but have not been fully confirmed by official club statements. Therefore, it is more appropriate to consider the current situation as the "main scenario."
If the Iranian championship is not resumed, these players may remain without match practice for a long time. This poses a risk for the Uzbekistan national team, as the decisive stage of preparation for the World Cup lies ahead.
Extended absence from the field could become a serious problem in the fight for the main squad. In such a situation, FIFA's decision will be crucial.
Because foreign players are legally bound to their clubs by contracts. In recent years, FIFA has introduced temporary regulations to resolve issues related to Ukrainian and Russian clubs.
These regulations allowed players and coaches to temporarily suspend their contracts. For now, the most reasonable conclusion is that possible transfer options can be discussed, but the final decision rests with FIFA.
If temporary permission is granted, Uzbek foreign players might consider a short-term return to the Super League. Logical options include "Pakhtakor" or "Bukhara" for Igor Sergeev, "Navbahor" or "Mash’al" for Oston Orunov, "Neftchi" or "Khorazm" for Masharipov, "Nasaf," "Dinamo," or "Qo‘qon-1912" for Ashurmatov, and "Nasaf," "Qizilqum," or "Surxon" for Hamrobekov.
These are not official negotiations but potential scenarios based on the current situation. At the same time, the options are not limited to Uzbekistan.
