The conflict escalated during the final match held on January 18. At that time, the Senegal team briefly left the field after a penalty was awarded in favor of Morocco.

Later, after a long break, the team captain Sadio Mane called the team back onto the field. At the end of the game, Senegal won 1:0 thanks to a goal scored during added time.
