Manchester City striker Erling Haaland brings new discoveries to the world of chess

Famous Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has embarked on new ventures in the world of chess. Zamin.uz reported this.
According to information from The Sun, he has become one of the main investors in a new and large-scale project called Total Chess World Championship Tour. The primary goal of this initiative is to popularize chess not only among experts but also among the general public, turning it into one of the world's most prominent sporting events.
The 25-year-old Norwegian footballer approaches the game of chess with boundless interest and actively supports ideas aimed at making it more attractive for spectators. The participation of his compatriot, world-famous grandmaster Magnus Carlsen, in the tournament is also expected for the project's success.
This situation not only introduces a new player to the event but also further enhances its reputation and helps attract more attention. Erling Haaland sees many commonalities between chess and football.
In his opinion, both sports require quick decision-making, strong intuition, and planning several moves ahead. The footballer emphasizes that it is precisely the combination of these qualities that harmonizes chess's deep mental battle with top-level football tactics, bringing them closer together.
As part of the agreement, Erling Haaland joined Chess Mates as a co-founder alongside renowned investor Morten Borg. This company is one of the main organizers of the new Norwegian chess tournament and plays a leading role in implementing the project.
The official launch of the new tournament is scheduled for the second half of 2026, when it is expected to cause a major stir worldwide. Source: The Sun
