Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has achieved another historical milestone in the Champions League. Zamin.uz reported this.

The second leg of the quarter-final against Real Madrid was the 40-year-old keeper's 137th match in this tournament. The most significant aspect of this figure is that Neuer recorded his 137th appearance in the starting lineup specifically for Bayern.

In this way, he has reached a new peak on the list of players with the most appearances in the Champions League for a single club. With this result, the German goalkeeper surpassed even the renowned football figure Lionel Messi.

The Argentine star had appeared in the starting lineup 136 times in the Champions League for Barcelona. Currently, Neuer occupies second place in the overall ranking.

The top spot on the list belongs to former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who started 149 matches in this tournament for the Madrid club. For reference, Bayern defeated Real Madrid 6:4 on aggregate in the quarter-final stage and advanced to the semi-finals.

Manuel Neuer's stability and reliable play on the field are being evaluated as one of the main factors contributing to the team's victory. Source: One.uz
