Eldor Shomurodov Officially Joins Istanbul Basaksehir

Eldor Shomurodov, the captain of the Uzbekistan national team and one of the most prolific strikers in the country's football history, has embarked on a significant new chapter in his club career. According to Zamin.uz, the permanent transfer of the former AS Roma player to the Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir has been officially confirmed.
This transfer has drawn significant attention from the football community due to both its sporting impact and financial terms. According to the Italian publication Romaforever, the process followed a pre-arranged plan.
As the Turkish club successfully maintained its position in the Super Lig, the mandatory buy-out clause in the contract was automatically triggered. Consequently, Shomurodov's tenure with the Italian capital club has concluded, making him a permanent member of the Turkish side.
Shomurodov initially joined Istanbul Basaksehir on loan. Under the terms of the agreement, there was an option to purchase the player for €2.8 million, which has now been exercised.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish club had previously paid a €3 million loan fee. Thus, the total deal was successfully completed in two stages.
From a financial perspective, Roma's management planned this transfer strategically. The club not only generated immediate revenue but also secured a beneficial future clause, entitling them to 10% of any future transfer fee if the player is sold again.
Turkish media have extensively covered the move, recognizing Shomurodov as one of the team's most vital players. He quickly adapted to the tactical system implemented by head coach Nuri Sahin, securing a firm place in the starting lineup.
Experts highly praise his work ethic and on-field performance. Statistics highlight the striker's success: in his debut season in Turkey, the 29-year-old forward made 40 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 5 assists.
Such productivity has established him as a key leader within the squad. Currently, Shomurodov's consistent form is attracting interest from major clubs, including reports that Fenerbahce is considering a move for him, indicating his rising market value.
Meanwhile, a major challenge awaits: the Uzbekistan national team is close to qualifying for the World Cup for the first time, where Eldor's experience and peak form will be crucial factors for the team's success.
