Khamzat Chimaev Speaks on the Difference Between Freestyle Wrestling and the Octagon
Khamzat Chimaev, renowned in the UFC world for his aggressive fighting style and bold statements, shared his thoughts on the key differences between freestyle wrestling and mixed martial arts. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The athlete emphasized that comparing these two disciplines is completely incorrect, as they are fundamentally different fields. According to Chimaev, it is natural for Olympic champions to dominate on the wrestling mat, but the situation inside the octagon is entirely different.

While highly assessing his own abilities, Chimaev admitted that Olympic champions might defeat him under pure wrestling rules. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that he could overcome any strong wrestler in a confrontation under MMA rules.

The athlete expressed high respect for the giants of world wrestling, Kyle Snyder and Abdulrashid Sadulaev. He added that he considers them among the greatest athletes in wrestling history, but their skills do not guarantee dominance specifically in the octagon.

Furthermore, Khamzat Chimaev supported his views using the example of former champion Henry Cejudo. He explained that Cejudo won the UFC belt not solely due to his wrestling prowess, but rather because of his striking technique and universal preparation.

While many attribute Cejudo's success only to his wrestling background, Chimaev dismissed this, noting that the primary results came through striking and overall combat skill. It is worth noting that Khamzat Chimaev is expected to have his next major fight soon.

On May 10 of this year, he will step into the octagon against American Sean Strickland as part of the UFC 328 tournament. This clash will be crucial in Chimaev's pursuit of the championship and in strengthening his position in the weight class.

According to One.uz, such bold statements from the athlete are generating great interest among fans and experts, and everyone is now waiting to see how his words hold up in practice during the upcoming fight.
