Uzbekistan national team to prepare for World Cup in USA

The entire Uzbek people and football fans have long awaited this historic moment, and only a short time remains. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Uzbekistan national football team is entering the final stage of preparation for its first-ever appearance in the final phase of the FIFA World Cup. At the same time, under the guidance of renowned Italian specialist Fabio Cannavaro, our main squad is undergoing intense training ahead of its historic journey at the World Cup, which will begin on Mexican soil, while the main training camps are being held in the United States of America.
Our representatives were scheduled to base themselves in the city of Atlanta prior to the influential matches. This city, proudly represented by Atlanta United—a club that has consistently defended its honor in Major League Soccer—has opened its doors wide to Uzbek footballers.
The friendly team will place at the disposal of our compatriots, starting from June 10 of this year, a modern and fully equipped training center of their choice. In celebration of this fortunate event, the American club addressed the Uzbekistan national team via its official website.
The statement expressed a sincere welcome to the Uzbekistan team, emphasizing that the club’s special training center will serve as the official headquarters and main base for our national team throughout the World Cup. According to One.uz, Fabio Cannavaro’s pupils secured a spot in Group H of this year’s tournament.
In the group stage, our representatives will face strong opponents: Colombia, one of South America’s powerful teams; Portugal, regarded as one of Europe’s strongest national sides; and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a physically formidable representative of Africa. Uzbekistan’s historic debut match will take place on June 18 at the legendary Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where they will face the Colombian national team.
Afterward, our team will return to the United States and, on June 23, will travel to Houston to play against the Portuguese stars. It is precisely this match that has become the focus of global media attention and the fervent interest of millions of loyal fans.
The final group match will be held on June 27 at the magnificent stadium in Atlanta, where our team will face the Congo.
This cooperation also includes a unique and interesting detail.
As is known, specialists from Atlanta United closely monitored the performances of Eldor Shomurodov, captain and leading striker of the Uzbekistan national team, during last summer. At that time, the American club aimed to add our compatriot to its roster.
Although this transfer did not materialize, warm relations between the parties have been maintained, and today this friendship finds its reflection in the broad opportunities created for our national team.
