Luka Modric has halted negotiations on extending his contract with Milan

Experienced Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić shared his thoughts on his future at Milan, as his contract with Real Madrid nears its end. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Despite approaching forty years of age, Modrić continues to play an important role in the team managed by Massimiliano Allegri. He has stated that his main goal is to conclude his time in Italy with major trophies.
This information was shared by Goal.com. Modrić joined Milan as a free agent after parting ways with Real Madrid in the summer of 2025.
Since then, he has consistently demonstrated his readiness to compete at the highest level. His current contract expires at the end of the season, but the agreement includes an option to extend the collaboration for another year.
When asked about his future, the footballer emphasized that his current focus is entirely on qualifying for the Champions League. In an interview with Sportmediaset, the Croatian playmaker said he feels very happy in Milan.
According to him, the most important thing right now is the upcoming match against Cagliari on Sunday, securing a victory, and earning a place in the influential tournament. Other matters will become clearer over time, and he noted that his relationships with the club’s management and coaching staff remain excellent.
Reflecting on his successful career, Modrić pointed out that he did not come to Italy merely to wrap up his journey—he has already won six Champions League titles with his Spanish club. Now, he aims to win at least one major trophy while wearing the Milan jersey.
He added that, although winning a trophy this season may not be possible, his desire to help the team succeed and win remains strong, and he is eager to celebrate a championship with Milan in the future.
Following a recent blood test that revealed anemia, the midfielder confirmed he is ready to return to the field wearing a special protective mask.
He said he feels physically strong and, if given the opportunity by the coach, is willing to contribute to the team’s success. Modrić’s experience and leadership are expected to be a significant asset for Milan in the decisive matches of the season.
