Manchester City investigating Rashford's return to Barcelona

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire shared his thoughts on the possibility of Marcus Rashford returning to Old Trafford, as reported by Zamin.uz.

Currently, Rashford, who is representing the England national team at the World Cup, has his future under discussion in European football circles. According to Goal.com, his potential return depends on certain key conditions being met.

Rashford spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions. Although Barcelona won La Liga, they decided not to exercise their option to buy him for £26 million.

Instead, the Catalan club opted to bring in Anthony Gordon for £70 million. Goal.com reports that Maguire, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, emphasized that must be met for Rashford’s return to Manchester United to happen.

In Maguire’s view, the transfer should be the right decision for the club first and foremost, and then for the player himself. He said: My relationship with Marcus is excellent.

I know what a fantastic player he can be. I think it’s important that the club and Marcus reach an agreement.

If he comes back, we want to see him happy, enjoying himself, and playing at a high level. This decision must work for both the club and him.

Rashford’s current contract with Manchester United runs for another two years. The forward, who earns £325,000 per week, still has the door open at Old Trafford, but a final decision is expected during the summer transfer window.

Despite the uncertainty at the club, Rashford continues to impress for the England national team. In the match against Panama, he stood out with his pace and creativity.

Maguire praised his teammate’s performance, acknowledging his relentless energy. He added: We were a bit slow in the game against Ghana, but Rashford against Panama immediately lifted the tempo.

His crosses from both wings put the opposition defence under serious pressure. When Marcus is in form, it’s nearly impossible to stop him.

As English fans, we know exactly how good he can be. For Uzbek football fans, these developments at Manchester United changes, as the club continues to work on rejuvenating the squad and strengthening the attack.

Rashford’s return could have a significant impact on United’s ambitions for the upcoming season. Source: Goal.com
