Chelsi is in talks to sign Granit Xhaka

London's Chelsea has taken an unexpected direction in its efforts to strengthen the squad, according to Zamin.uz.

The club's new head coach, Xabi Alonso, is considering Granit Xhaka, a key figure in his successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen. This transfer is not only desired by the specialist but also eagerly anticipated by Chelsea's attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer.

This is reported by Goal.com. According to sources, Chelsea is currently in talks to bring the captain of the Swiss national team back to the western part of London.

Cole Palmer expressed his stance on the potential transfer via social media, liking a post announced by insider Fabrizio Romano, indicating his readiness to play alongside the experienced midfielder.

The balance between experience and youth has been a cornerstone of Chelsea's ownership policy in recent years, focused on acquiring young talents. However, the disappointing results of the past season and the team's failure to secure a consistent position in tournament standings highlighted the lack of a leader with a winning character.

Granit Xhaka is expected to fill exactly this void. For Xabi Alonso, Xhaka is no stranger.

They worked together in the German championship, achieving historic success. The coach wants to see a professional in midfield who enforces discipline and tactical instructions precisely and can guide young players.

Currently, the midfielder, who has defied his age, is having an outstanding season at Sunderland, contributing to the team's qualification for European competitions. Although the relationship between the player and the coach is strong, the transfer process is not proceeding smoothly.

The initial official offer from Chelsea was rejected by Sunderland's management. The northern club is not willing to let go of its leader easily, but Chelsea's financial capabilities and the player's desire to return to the elite of the English Premier League could change the situation.

For Xhaka, London is not a foreign city. He spent many years playing for Arsenal, rising to the rank of team captain.

His deep knowledge of the Premier League environment and his tendency to take responsibility in difficult moments have sparked various discussions among Chelsea fans. Many view this transfer as a sign of the club's pragmatic shift.
