Arsenal are asking for £130 million for their number

London's Arsenal club is preparing for another sensational move in the transfer market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

However, the price set for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, who is the team's target, surprised even experienced specialists. According to information provided by Goal.com, the Birmingham side has valued their talent at 130 million pounds sterling.

This is considered one of the highest figures in the modern football market. Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit could not hide his astonishment upon hearing this transfer amount.

The experienced midfielder sharply criticized the unjustified rise of prices in modern football. In his opinion, such a huge sum not only damages the club's budget but also places a heavy psychological burden on the player.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Petit noted that prices have reached an illogical level since transfers crossed the 100 million pound threshold. According to him, if a club is prepared to spend so much money on a single player, that player must perform real miracles on the pitch and be able to decide the fate of the game single-handedly.

Emmanuel Petit cited Declan Rice's transfer as an example. While Rice justified the funds spent on him and quickly adapted to the team, not every footballer may be able to perform under such immense pressure.

The former footballer is concerned that since Rogers is still young, such an astronomical price could potentially have a negative impact on his future career. Despite this, the coaching staff led by Mikel Arteta has made Rogers the team's primary target.

The 23-year-old forward attracted many people's attention with his brilliant performances in the English Premier League. The Londoners seem ready to break the British transfer record to strengthen the squad and gain an advantage in the championship race.

If negotiations for Morgan Rogers become too complicated or the price proves too expensive, Emmanuel Petit recommended another candidate to the club. The French specialist has long expressed interest in the performances of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

Petit noted that Williams' style of play is more suitable for Arsenal. Nico Williams proved himself at last year's European Championship, showing that he is one of the strongest wingers on the continent.

However, for now, Arsenal has focused all its attention on Rogers and has not started official actions regarding the Spanish footballer. Aston Villa, meanwhile, is in no hurry to let go of their star.

Morgan Rogers has a valid contract with the club until June 2031. This situation allows the Birmingham club to dictate its own terms in negotiations and keep the price high.

If this deal takes place, it will be recorded as one of the most expensive transfers in football history.
