"Milan" wants to buy Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk

AC Milan has begun work on a major transfer that could shock the football world during the current summer window, according to Zamin.uz.
The club’s leadership, particularly in the form of legendary Zlatan Ibrahimović, who serves as a senior advisor, is reportedly planning to bring Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk to Italy. This influential transfer is expected to mark the beginning of a new era aimed at returning Milan to the forefront of European football.
According to reports from Goal.com, the Rossoneri aim to strengthen their defense by signing the experienced Dutch defender. La Gazzetta dello Sport adds that after abandoning the pursuit of Gonçalo Ramos for a fee of 70 million euros, Milan has redirected its focus toward bolstering the backline.
Club executive Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimović view the Dutch defender as a key figure in the project of new head coach Ruben Amorim. Ibrahimović believes that a player of van Dijk’s leadership caliber could completely transform the team’s internal dynamics and elevate its performance to a new level.
At the same time, Liverpool is undergoing significant changes. The Merseyside side has already seen departures of key players such as Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
Furthermore, Ibrahima Konate is expected to leave as a free agent for Real Madrid. In this situation, Liverpool is unlikely to let go of their captain easily, but with van Dijk’s current contract nearing its end, Milan may find a favorable opening.
The Italian club aims to take full advantage of this circumstance by adding an influential defender to its squad. The RedBird investment company is currently conducting a deep analysis of the financial aspects and economic viability of the transfer.
Van Dijk has made 374 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 36 goals, and has repeatedly proven himself to be one of the strongest defenders in the world. During his time in England, he has won major trophies, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
If negotiations for Virgil van Dijk’s transfer do not yield the desired result, Milan’s leadership is also considering a backup option. According to sources, Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio could be offered to the club for a fee of 40 million euros.
However, for both Ibrahimović and Amorim, the Dutch defender remains the primary target. Liverpool, for its part, is expected to fight hard to retain van Dijk in order to avoid losing multiple key players at once.
This suggests that the upcoming negotiations will be both complex and intriguing.
