Barcelona have begun their attempts to sign Julian Alvarez

Atletico Madrid, one of the key stars of the team, is preparing to part ways with Julian Alvarez. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Barcelona has launched active efforts to sign the Argentine striker, prompting Madrid’s management to search for a suitable replacement. According to Goal.com, head coach Diego Simeone has identified Mason Greenwood, currently defending Marseille’s colors, as the primary target.
Barcelona’s leadership views Julian Alvarez as the natural successor to Robert Lewandowski in the squad’s future. President Joan Laporta confirmed that an official offer has been sent to Atletico Madrid, though so far it has been met with a negative response.
According to Laporta, Madrid will not release one of its best strikers until a proper replacement is found. This stance is triggering a chain reaction in the transfer market.
Mason Greenwood is no stranger to Spanish football. He previously played on loan for Getafe, where he left a lasting impression with his standout performances.
Afterward, he moved to Marseille in France, where he returned to peak form. In Ligue 1, the English forward ranked among the top scorers and regained attention from major European clubs.
Diego Simeone sees Greenwood as the ideal option to strengthen the attacking line. The departures of key attackers like Antoine Griezmann and Nico González have forced Atletico Madrid to seek new firepower up front.
If Atletico successfully completes the Greenwood transfer, it would clear the path for Julian Alvarez to move to Barcelona. However, Manchester United also holds financial interests in this deal.
The English club retains a right to a percentage of any future transfer fee when Greenwood is sold, which could make the move significantly more expensive for Atletico Madrid.
Currently, Julian Alvarez is focusing on upcoming successes with the Argentina national team, having already won several influential trophies during his career.
Barcelona is closely monitoring the situation. The Catalans are awaiting the conclusion of negotiations between Atletico Madrid and Marseille.
Only after that will a second, improved offer for Alvarez be prepared. This chain of transfers could become one of the most dramatic events of the summer transfer window.
