Manchester City and Arsenal are battling for Leicester's winger

English football's most influential championship is seeing major clubs enter the open market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Manchester City and Arsenal are competing more openly to secure young talents. At present, the London club has expressed interest in reaching an agreement with Leicester City winger Jeremi Monga, but Manchester City has entered the scene as a serious rival.

According to information from Goal.com, Manchester City has launched decisive actions to finalize this transfer in its favor. In this young footballer's transfer, Manchester City could gain an advantage.

The main reason for this is linked to the club's new head coach, Enzo Maresca. The Italian specialist managed Leicester City during the 2023-24 season, during which he worked closely with Jeremi Monga.

Maresca highly values the young star's football potential and has personally advocated for his inclusion in the squad. Jeremi Monga is currently regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in English football.

He made his debut against Newcastle in April 2025, becoming the third-youngest debutant in Premier League history. This record places him behind only Arsenal's Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri.

Additionally, Monga has etched his name in the history of the English Championship. In August 2025, when he scored against Preston North End, he was 16 years and 37 days old.

With this achievement, he also surpassed the record set by Jude Bellingham, who defends Real Madrid's honor. Leicester City's academy has developed a number of talents in recent years, but the club struggles to retain them in the first team.

Previously, young players like Tyrese Noubissie and Trey Nyoni respectively moved to Manchester City and Liverpool. For Leicester City, which has suffered two consecutive relegations, selling Monga would be financially beneficial, but from a sporting perspective, it would be a significant loss.

Currently, Arsenal appears to be ahead in negotiations, but the interest shown by Manchester City and Enzo Maresca's influence could completely change the situation. The agreed transfer fee and the player's development plan will determine which club comes out on top.
