This decision was made by the team management and coaching staff with a long-term perspective in mind.
The team's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, fully believes in the capabilities of the Uruguayan midfielder and has no doubts about his future. Even the player's recent results on the international stage could not change the coach's firm opinion on this matter.
