Jon Terri thinks England's line-up is stronger than Argentina's
Former England captain and Chelsea legend John Terry made an unexpected statement ahead of the World Cup semi-final, as reported by Zamin.uz.

In his view, the current England squad is superior to the reigning world champions, Argentina, in every position. This match is expected to be not just a clash of two football giants, but a serious test for the new era under Thomas Tuchel.

This was reported by Goal.com. Speaking on the FIFA podcast, Terry emphasized that despite the presence of world-class stars like Lionel Messi in the Argentine lineup, the English have nothing to fear.

According to the former defender, the individual quality of England’s players surpasses that of any other team at the tournament. He believes this could give the English a psychological edge in the semi-final.

John Terry openly stated that he does not fear Argentina and does not consider them stronger than England. When comparing players one-on-one, he expressed confidence that England’s representatives outshine their opponents in every aspect.

The former footballer’s bold remarks sparked heated debates on social media and among experts. Although Terry placed England above Argentina, he did not deny the opponent’s vast experience in high-stakes matches.

Argentina have won four major tournaments in recent years, forging a unique winning mentality. In contrast, England’s squad includes only five players — Harry Kane, John Stones, Jordan Pickford, Marcus Rashford, and Jordan Henderson — who have previously played in a World Cup semi-final, eight years ago.

The central focus of this discussion is undoubtedly Lionel Messi. The 33-year-old football legend will face England in an official match for the first time in his career.

Terry compared Messi’s influence on the pitch to that of his former Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard. He said Messi, like Hazard, possesses the rare ability to single-handedly decide the outcome of a match even in the most difficult situations.

It should be noted that in this tournament, England’s attacking threat has been driven by Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, who have scored six goals between them. Argentina, on many occasions, have relied on Messi’s exceptional brilliance to secure victories.

Whether John Terry’s confidence will serve as added motivation for Tuchel’s squad or turn into unnecessary pressure remains to be seen.
