Jordan Barrow is confident he can defeat Islam Makhachev in pure wrestling

Jordan Barrouz is one of the most respected and renowned athletes in the world of freestyle wrestling. This is reported by One.uz.
He became an Olympic champion in the up to 74 kg weight category at the 2012 London Olympics, a multiple-time world champion and bronze medalist. He won gold medals at the World Championships in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2021, and 2022, and also earned bronze medals on three occasions.
Barrouz’s extensive experience and success in freestyle wrestling make him one of the greatest in the sport. Barrouz shared his thoughts on a potential matchup in the UFC with Russian champion Islam Makhachev.
He described Makhachev’s takedown style as ineffective in freestyle wrestling. In Barrouz’s opinion, Makhachev’s ground movements would not give him any advantage in a wrestling mat.
He said he had watched Makhachev’s fights and recalled the bout against Gerri Machado, noting that Machado is not a great wrestler, and that he would easily throw him off balance with a similar leg trip.
However, Barrouz acknowledged that wrestling and MMA are two completely different sports and that he would not fight in the octagon. Barrouz’s record in sports speaks volumes about his strength and prestige in freestyle wrestling.
