The Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFS), Maksim Mitrofanov, announced that negotiations could begin regarding a friendly match with the Serbian national team this spring. This was reported by www.euro-football.ru.
The possibility of holding a return match is being considered by the RFS. No specific date has been set yet, but the parties plan to continue their dialogue in the next three months.
In a match held in Moscow in the spring of 2024, the Russian national team won 4:0 against Serbia. This result was influenced by an early dismissal of a player from the opposing team.
Additionally, in June, the Russian national team played a 1:1 draw with Nigeria and defeated the Belarus national team 4:1.
According to Maksim Mitrofanov, relations with the Serbian national team are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet regarding the date of the return match.
The RFS aims to continue negotiations in this regard and to organize a friendly match in the future. Thus, it is intended to expand the international opportunities for Russian players and strengthen mutual relations.
