«Manchester City» coach Mark Gexi declined the coaching position

Six footballers representing five different clubs in the English Premier League refused to perform the knee slide before taking the field as part of the "No Room for Racism" campaign. One.uz reports this.
According to the competition rules, all players were required to perform a knee slide as a symbol of unity against racism. However, Manchester City defender Mark Gexi, Bournemouth players Tyler Adams and Ryan, Leeds United player Dominik Calvert-Lywin, Ipswich Town defender Issa Diop, and Everton player Eynsly Maitland-Nails did not perform this action.
Instead, they stood upright on the pitch and expressed their positions by applauding. Mark GExi explained his decision in detail in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, the knee slide gesture is not achieving its true purpose because it is not unique to football pitches, but rather a broader societal issue. Football should serve as a means to convey the right message to people.
While Gexi confirmed that the campaign's goal remains important, he stated that it is necessary to move beyond symbolic gestures and seriously reconsider how the campaign should be continued in the future. The knee slide tradition, which has been ongoing in the Premier League for several years, has been regarded by many athletes and experts as mere formality or "window dressing."
The position of these football stars indicates that it is time to move away from repetitive symbolic gestures in the fight against racism and toward real legal measures and effective advocacy. Source: One.uz
