The English club "Liverpool" has decided to retire the number 20. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This number was worn by forward Diogo Jota. This was announced on the club's official website.
"The number 20 will be immortalized for the services of the Liverpool team in the 2024/2025 championship season. Thanks to his brilliant movement and strike, victory was achieved in the Merseyside derby," the club's press service stated.
Diogo Jota's goal against Everton on April 2 was the last goal of his professional career. The Portuguese player passed away in a traffic accident on the morning of July 3.
This tragic incident occurred with his brother Andre. Jota was 28 years old.
His death has caused great sorrow among the football community and fans. Liverpool club wishes to immortalize his memory and honorably remember his name.
