Gerard Piqué proposes changing football rules: no points for 0:0!
There are many news and proposals in the world of football, but some can have a significant impact. Gerard Piqué, the legendary former defender of FC Barselona, is proposing a radical change to football. According to him, teams should not receive any points for a 0:0 draw to encourage attacking play.

Piqué: "Fans should not see a 0:0 scoreline"

Piqué, who has his own views on the attractiveness of football, recently suggested introducing new rules to motivate teams during a podcast conversation with Iker Casillas.

— A fan who spends 100, 200, or 300 euros to come to the stadium should not see a 0:0 scoreline. Something needs to change. For example, if the game ends in a 0:0 draw, teams should not receive any points. Imagine how the game would change after the 70th minute! — said Piqué.

This idea could undoubtedly help promote attacking football. Teams would strive to score, abandon defensive play, and make the game more exciting.

The idea of eliminating draws

Currently, draws grant teams one point, leading them to adopt a safe strategy. However, Piqué believes that instead, football should have decisive outcomes like basketball or tennis.

About a year ago, he proposed completely eliminating draw results. This idea sparked various debates among fans.

Could Piqué's idea work?

If such rules were implemented in major football competitions, the games could become even more interesting. Especially in the final rounds of the championship, teams might fully switch to attacking play, providing unforgettable moments for fans.

At the same time, this proposal may not suit all teams. For example, weaker teams might miss the opportunity to secure at least one point by employing defensive tactics against stronger opponents.

But one thing is clear: Piqué's idea will be hotly debated in the football world and could pave the way for new thoughts on making football more dynamic and attacking.

Do you think points should be eliminated for a 0:0 draw? Would this make football more attractive?
