China's Dobot startup has introduced a new humanoid robot named Atom, which can skillfully replicate human movements, according to Kyodo News. This robot has high precision and independence in performing household tasks.
Capabilities of Atom
The videos released by Dobot show Atom independently performing various tasks. It can prepare breakfast, pour tea, lift large boxes, and carry document folders. These abilities make it a useful assistant in both domestic and work environments.
Technical specifications of the robot
Atom stands out from other humanoid robots with its innovative arms. The robot has 28 degrees of freedom, and its movements are executed with an accuracy of 5 millimeters. This allows it to successfully handle tasks that require high precision.
Additionally, the robot is equipped with energy-saving technologies. It reduces energy consumption by 42% by walking with a properly positioned knee and can maintain balance while moving on various surfaces. Dobot Atom has a modern computing system that can process data 7.7 times faster than standard robots and has the ability to adapt independently to unstructured environments.
Special technical parameters
- Height: 153 cm
- Weight: 62 kg
- Degrees of freedom: 28
- Accuracy: 5 mm
- Energy saving: 42%
Planned production
Dobot plans to start mass production of Atom from mid-2025. The initial price of the robot is set at $27,500, and it is already available for pre-order.
Developments in robotics
Previously, Japanese manufacturers also introduced a humanoid robot designed for caring for elderly people. This 150-kilogram robot can perform tasks such as turning patients to prevent bedsores, assisting them to sit, folding clothes, and even frying eggs.
The introduction of Dobot Atom could mark a new stage in the field of humanoid robotics. Such innovations aimed at making human life easier and increasing work efficiency will define the future of technology.
