Temperatures may reach 40 to 43 degrees in many places, and up to 45 degrees in the southern regions. The Ministry of Health has warned about the effects of sunlight in this situation, particularly regarding allergic reactions.
As experts have pointed out, high levels of ultraviolet rays can cause allergic reactions on the skin. In such conditions, the skin's sensitivity to sunlight increases.
As a result, the likelihood of developing photodermatosis is high. This condition indicates that allergic reactions occur on the skin or in interaction with other substances in the body due to the effects of ultraviolet rays.
Photodermatosis manifests as blisters, red spots, burns, as well as peeling, itching, and swelling of the skin in areas such as the chest, neck, and hands. Rashes may appear within a week, starting from the first hours of sun exposure.
Usually, these symptoms disappear as a result of treatments, but in some cases, the condition may become chronic. To avoid such problems, it is recommended to stay in the shade or cool places during the hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM when sunlight is strong.
It is necessary to wear closed clothing as much as possible. It is advisable to use sunscreen designed for sensitive skin.
Additionally, some medications can exacerbate or trigger photodermatosis. Therefore, it is essential to read the instructions carefully or consult a doctor before using any medication.
For example, medications such as Erythromycin, Tetracycline, and Streptomycin have the property of attracting ultraviolet rays, and patients taking them or applying them to the face are advised not to go outside during hot days. If symptoms of photodermatosis appear, it is recommended to contact the Republican Specialized Center for Allergology and Clinical Immunology and its regional branches.
