On August 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on measures to develop waste recycling and increase efficiency in the sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The discussion emphasized the need to modernize the system of waste collection, transportation, and recycling. It was announced that new methods will be introduced in the country to improve the living standards of the population and the ecological situation.
According to officials, about one quarter of household waste consists of paper, plastic, rubber, glass, and textile residues. It was stated that by recycling these types of raw materials, it is possible to produce products worth at least one trillion soums annually.
It is planned to expand the participation of the private sector and foreign investors in this field. Additionally, it was noted that there are large reserves of non-recyclable waste such as construction and chemical industry waste, electronic devices, and technical oils.
It was emphasized that by introducing technologies for recycling these wastes, new jobs can be created and economic efficiency increased. The need for the waste removal service to fully meet the needs of the population was particularly highlighted.
For this purpose, a task was set to create the possibility to monitor the arrival and movement of waste collection vehicles online in every neighborhood. This will help save the population’s time and improve the quality of service.
Furthermore, a two-year program was planned to fully supply social institutions and neighborhoods with the necessary waste containers. It was stressed that ecological culture among youth should be formed starting from kindergartens, and environmental protection topics should be included in educational programs.
