
On August 19, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by General Sahir Shamshod Mirzo, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the President's press service, the high-ranking guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, to the head of state. During the meeting, issues related to implementing the agreements reached during the Pakistani Prime Minister's visit to Uzbekistan in February of this year were discussed.
Furthermore, the discussion covered the further development of multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The activation of mutual dialogue and exchanges at various levels was noted with satisfaction.
Since the beginning of this year, the volume of trade has increased by 23 percent, and freight transportation has grown by 50 percent. The opening of trade houses in the cities of Karachi and Lahore also serves to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
In addition, the number of direct flights has increased. Cooperation issues in military and military-technical fields, as well as in combating modern threats and risks related to security, were also considered.
Special attention was paid to the prompt implementation of the trilateral agreement signed on the Trans-Afghan railway construction project. This meeting serves to ensure that cooperation between the two countries reaches a new level.
