A new law has been adopted in our country to develop the field of intellectual property and strengthen its protection. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This law aims to simplify the registration processes of intellectual property objects and provide broader protection for the interests of property owners. In particular, criminal liability for violations of copyright and related rights has been strengthened.
Now, in cases of illegal reproduction, distribution, or public communication of works or their copies, fines or corrective labor, as well as restrictions or deprivation of liberty, will be applied. If violations are repeated, or committed by a group with prior agreement, using official positions or mass media, the penalties will be further increased.
In such cases, fines will be raised and the duration of punishments extended. Additionally, the law shortens the examination periods for intellectual property objects and simplifies the procedure for paying patent fees.
Within the scope of the amendments, additions have also been made to the laws "On Legal Protection of Software and Databases Created for Electronic Computers" and "On Inventions, Utility Models, and Industrial Designs." According to experts, this law will effectively protect the rights of creators and authors, create a fair competitive environment, and promote the development of innovative ideas.
Thus, intellectual property owners will have the opportunity to legally protect the results of their work (Zamin.uz).
