In the first half of this year, 9,570 people in Uzbekistan were deprived of their liberty for various reasons. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Compared to 10,286 people during the same period in 2024, a slight decrease is observed. According to official data from the Supreme Court, the number of imprisoned individuals was higher in the capital, major cities, and regions.
Specifically, 1,982 people were imprisoned in Tashkent city, 1,244 in Tashkent region, and 1,044 in Fergana region. The following figures were recorded in other areas: 768 in Andijan region, 373 in Bukhara region, 304 in Jizzakh, 577 in Kashkadarya, 255 in Karakalpakstan, 358 in Navoi, 803 in Namangan, 732 in Samarkand, 330 in Syrdarya, 434 in Surkhandarya, and 366 in Khorezm.
Additionally, one person in Namangan region was sentenced to life imprisonment. This statistic indicates that crimes and offenses occur in all regions of the country and, in some cases, the most severe punishments are applied.
Imprisonment figures are important not only in terms of the number of individuals but also in their impact on social security and societal norms. According to officials, law enforcement agencies play a crucial role not only in protecting the rights and obligations of citizens but also in ensuring family and social security.
Therefore, the half-year statistics should be regarded not only as numbers but also as an important indicator of the legal situation and awareness level in society. Source of information: Official website of the Supreme Court.
