A new draft law discussed by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis is aimed at ensuring public safety and strengthening the peace of citizens. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
It has been noted that in recent years, cases of carrying cold weapons illegally in public places have increased. This situation poses a serious threat not only to law enforcement agencies but also to the lives of ordinary citizens.
Therefore, the draft law envisages strengthening penalties against individuals who repeatedly commit such offenses. For example, those involved in domestic violence or harassment will not be granted the right to possess weapons.
Additionally, internal affairs bodies may temporarily confiscate existing weapons from individuals who have committed violence against children. The law also includes provisions related to the compulsory treatment of persons suffering from narcological diseases.
Now, even a citizen who has been held administratively liable once can be sent to a treatment facility by court decision. According to officials, the main goal of this law is to prevent offenses, stabilize the criminogenic situation in neighborhoods, and effectively protect the lives and health of citizens.
These initiatives are positively evaluated by the public because ensuring law and order means protecting the safety of every person. The draft law was approved by deputies in the first reading and is now planned to be considered in the next stages of the legislative process (source: zamin.uz).
