
On September 12, 2023, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held an important telephone conversation with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the conversation, issues related to further strengthening and developing the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries were discussed in detail. At the beginning of the dialogue, President Mirziyoyev strongly condemned the recent missile strikes on the Qatari capital, Doha, carried out by Israel.
It was emphasized that these actions threaten Qatar's independence and sovereignty, and are contrary to the rules of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The Uzbek leader expressed opposition to the use of force in international relations and stressed the necessity of preventing further escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
In this regard, President Mirziyoyev wished for the effective and productive conduct of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit convened at Qatar's initiative. The Amir of Qatar expressed gratitude for the mutual solidarity, support, and diplomatic cooperation.
During the conversation, matters of continuing political dialogue between the two countries and developing joint investment and cooperation projects among leading companies were also discussed. It was noted that this cooperation is important for both sides economically and politically.
