Poverty rate in Namangan decreased 2.5 times
It was emphasized that the poverty rate in Namangan region has decreased 2.5 times in a short period. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was announced at the meeting on the socio-economic development of Namangan region held on September 16 under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The head of state expressed his pleasure at seeing the high spirits of the population and each person's aspiration for work every time he visits the region.

It was noted that the positive changes in the area and the newly launched enterprises confirm that the reforms are on the right track. Significant work has been carried out in Namangan region in recent years.

The fact that Namangan city will host the international forum on poverty reduction starting tomorrow is also evidence of this progress. The main reason for the 2.5 times reduction in poverty in a short time was indicated as the favorable conditions created and the effective results of the hardworking population of the region.

According to the information from the President's press service, over the past eight years, foreign investments worth 7 billion dollars have been attracted to the region, and nearly 8,000 new enterprises have started operations. The number of exported products has doubled, reaching over a thousand types.

The real average income of the population has tripled. 82 percent of the working-age population earn income through small businesses and entrepreneurship.

It was also specially emphasized that the region has resources and favorable conditions to develop all major sectors. At the meeting, important tasks were assigned to the regional governor and his deputies, as well as to the heads of 14 districts and cities.

Among these tasks are attracting investments worth 4.2 billion dollars by the end of the year, increasing export volume to 1 billion dollars, providing employment for 323 thousand people, and lifting 26 thousand families out of poverty. Using the example of the Sho‘rariq neighborhood in Norin district, the appearance of "difficult" neighborhoods will be fundamentally changed.

Modern neighborhood centers will be established in these areas, including children's and sports playgrounds, service facilities, a library, vocational and language training centers, and bank branches. Streets will be asphalted and illuminated, and outdated parks will be completely renovated.

100 billion soums will be allocated to Kosonsoy and Norin districts, and 5 billion soums each to two "difficult" neighborhoods in other districts, totaling 320 billion soums directed towards creating the best exemplary areas. Earlier, during his visit to Namangan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Sho‘rariq neighborhood in Norin district, where he received information that over 5,000 people live there, including 62 poor families, 118 unemployed individuals, and 157 people working abroad (source: zamin.uz).
