It is proposed to restrict advertising of breast milk substitute products in Uzbekistan and to strengthen the procedures for the production, import, storage, and sale of baby food. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This proposal was put forward at a presentation attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These measures will be implemented within the framework of the national program to promote breastfeeding-based nutrition.
The goal of the program is to increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding of infants up to 6 months to 70 percent by 2030. This indicator aligns with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
Within the national program, WHO and UNICEF initiatives – “Baby-Friendly Hospital” and “Ten Steps to Breastfeeding” projects – will be implemented. Doctors will be trained to provide counseling on breastfeeding, and special training sessions will be organized for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
These measures are aimed at strengthening children's health and promoting exclusive breastfeeding. Source: kursiv.media.
