In 2025, a major project to develop public transport is being implemented in the city of Tashkent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This project is being carried out within the framework of the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy's "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy" program. According to the plan, by the end of this year, 200 electric buses and the necessary equipment to charge them will be purchased.
As a result of the tender, the Chinese company "YUTONG BUS Co., Ltd." was declared the winner. Based on the contract signed with this company, the first 100 electric buses were brought to Uzbekistan through the city of Khorgos in Kazakhstan.
The electric buses are planned to be fully delivered by the end of September. The project is being financed through a partnership between China's Eximbank financial institution and "O‘zsanoatqurilishbank" joint-stock commercial bank.
The electric buses do not emit harmful gases into the atmosphere, operate quietly, and are considered environmentally friendly. This initiative will play an important role in creating a safe, comfortable, and modern public transport system in the capital.
