Discounts will be introduced on food products in Uzbekistan that are nearing their expiration date. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the new government decision, special shelves will be organized in large shopping centers and stores. Products approaching their expiration date will be placed on these shelves, and their prices will be gradually reduced every ten days.
These measures are implemented to provide the population with quality products at affordable prices and to prevent food waste. Additionally, steps will be taken to reduce product loss at all stages from the field to the consumer.
This includes processes such as harvesting, sorting, loading, transportation, and storing products in refrigerators. Each stage will be strictly controlled.
The quality of agricultural products will be continuously monitored. Special training seminars will be organized for farmers and peasant farms, where they will gain knowledge on increasing productivity, conducting market analysis, and effective use of chemicals.
According to the document, in January-February 2026, improvements in sanitary rules and hygiene requirements for the production, transportation, storage, and sale of food raw materials are planned. Furthermore, the years 2026–2030 will be declared the "Period of Urgent Food Security."
During this period, special attention will be paid to supplying the population with sufficient quantities of quality products, saving food, and promoting rational consumption. For this purpose, the "Rational Consumption" program will be implemented.
Experts believe that this initiative will not only provide the population with affordable and quality products but also contribute to ensuring food security in the country. Source: zamin.uz.
