Rustam Ahmedov passed away at the age of 82. He was widely known as a capable commander who dedicated his entire life to military service and worked selflessly for the defense of the Motherland.

Rustam Ahmedov began his military career as a tank platoon commander. Later, he served in various leadership positions, including deputy for political affairs of a tank division, commander of a cadet battalion, as well as leadership roles at higher military educational institutions in Tashkent, Samarkand, and other cities.

After Uzbekistan gained independence, he was appointed as the country's first Minister of Defense and played an important role in forming the national army.
