
On October 13, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Nenad Lalovich, the head of United World Wrestling (UWW). This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, issues related to the development of wrestling sports in Uzbekistan, their organizational and expert-level support, and popularization were discussed. During the negotiations, the UWW leader highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in the country's sports sector, particularly the expansion of modern infrastructure and efforts to widely involve youth in sports.
Additionally, matters concerning the organization of major continental and world championships in Uzbekistan, the opening of the Regional Wrestling Academy, and the development of cooperation in the fields of sports medicine, dietetics, and psychology were considered. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of popularizing wrestling sports among children and youth, introducing modern methods for selecting and training talented athletes, as well as improving sports infrastructure in neighborhoods.
At the end of the meeting, the President awarded Nenad Lalovich the “Friendship” order for his personal contribution to the development of mass sports and wrestling disciplines. Source: zamin.uz
